Tuesday Writing Prompt Challenge–July 21, 2020

Devereaux Frazier and Beth Amanda are currently hosting the Tuesday Writing Prompt Challenge which was started by our star writer Christine Ray. We hope to offer all of you something that will spark your creativity and willingness to participate.
The prompts are designed to be quick challenges that can be written in 10 to 15 minutes,  inspire you creatively, are fun, and get everyone interacting.  Please post your response to the prompt in the comments below and show your fellow posters some love and support.  All members of the Go Dog Go community, including Baristas, are welcome to participate.  Feel free to share this post on your own blogs and/or Facebook.

  9. Kettle

    We didn’t need kettle,
    we already had one
    quite smart
    and in working order.
    But this was so beautiful,
    a shiny black
    that no pot could match
    And such an iconic Arte Deco shape
    that we bought it anyway.

    We placed the old one
    at the back of the cupboard
    out of sight
    and the new one shone
    in pride of place
    ready to be filled.
    This was not so easy,
    it’s balance was somehow wrong.
    Pouring from it was even more difficult,
    it’s balance was certainly wrong.

    So the old one was brought back
    into service
    and the new one shines gloriously
    on a shelf.
    Even if we never use it,
    it still looks beautiful.

    • Thank you for posting! I agree the bubbles need to burst so we can clear away our soapy vision and blink away the gray cast that covers our hearts. Be well fellow poet!
