Tuesday Writing Prompt Challenge November 20, 2018

Devereaux Frazier and Beth Amanda are currently hosting the Tuesday Writing Prompt Challenge which was started by our star writer Christine Ray. We hope to offer all of you something that will spark your creativity and willingness to participate.

The prompts are designed to be quick challenges that can be written in 10 to 15minutes,  inspire you creatively, are fun, and get everyone interacting.  Please post your response to the prompt in the comments below and show your fellow posters some love and support.  All members of the Go Dog Go community, including Baristas, are welcome to participate.  Feel free to share this post on your own blogs and/or Facebook.

Today’s prompt:

So most Thanksgiving prompts are about “giving, thankful, family, etc.”  I’m going out on a limb here.  In the stress that may come with preparing for this holiday, let’s have a little fun!

Write from the perspective of anything on or around a Thanksgiving table—turkey, fork, candle, chair, table, mashed potatoes—whatever! Be that object and write a humorous piece, any form, that will make us giggle or smile. Have some fun my fellow writers 😊 🍗

Gobble gobble. (And for those who don’t celebrate this holiday, just go for it anyway and write!)

  1. Fork Tales

Do you know how horrible I feel
When you spear the dead turkey with me
And then shove me in your cavernous mouth
    With gusto and shamelessly!
What a gourmand you really are
You have been eating the whole day
I am sick and tired of being stuck
Or piercing all that comes your way
It will be truly thanksgiving for me
When you put me down finally
And perhaps let me rest tomorrow
After a day of self-indulgence and gluttony.

  2. Look at them… just standing around, staring at me. Like I’m just a piece of meat. I mean, I know my tan is on point, and I’m hot – HOT, I tell ya! And packed like a tourist’s suitcase. But I’m more than that. I’m GORGEOUS, dammit! They should be ON THEIR KNEES before me!

Aaaah… at last! They’re all taking their places. And the ceremony begins! Carve into my breast, take a slice, plass the plate. Finally, the adoration I deserve! That’s right – it’s all gravy now, baby!

Wait – what’s going on now? They’re all leaving?! HEY! Come back here! Don’t you know who I am?! You can’t just walk away from me! What’s that sound? Oh. Football. Fine. I’ll just sit here and dry out now.

    Thanks for a lovely evening
