The prompts are designed to be quick challenges that can be written in 10 to 15minutes,  inspire you creatively, are fun, and get everyone interacting.  Please post your response to the prompt in the comments below and show your fellow posters some love and support.  All members of the Go Dog Go community, including Baristas, are welcome to participate.  Feel free to share this post on your own blogs and/or Facebook.

We are always looking for cool, quick writing prompts.  If you have a great idea for a future Tuesday prompt challenge, send it to Beth Amanda at midwestfantasy333@gmail.com

Today’s prompt is to use this phrase in a poem.

The phrase = simmer of summer

  2. Simmer of summer says Sam
Sally sips her drink and smiles
    What could he mean, Cindy,
    She asks her friend shyly
    Who responds, summer slips
Away from us so get out there
    And simmer,
    girlfriend
    while you still got it

  3. They sinned that summer
An affront against god but not flesh
In the backseat of a car, steam rising.

    They smiled that summer
held hands and fed each other ice cream
Still the asphalt reflected their heat.

They studied each other that summer
The leaves were touched with brown
And the anger heated their eyes.

    Then the freshness of fall
Drove out the simmer of summer
They no longer felt each other’s warmth.

    • Believe me I can relate to those meetings. Fortunately, I am done with my teaching chapter of life.
Your poem is absolutely fantastic! My favorite line was “undressed by the August storm.” I could actually feel your words as I read this piece. Thank you for your contribution! And good luck with the school year📚
