NaPoWriMo/GloPoWriMo 2018 Challenges on the Go Dog Go Cafe

For National Poetry Month in 2003, American poet Maureen Thorson pledged on her blog to write a poem a day for the month of April and invited other poets with blogs to join her. Thorson continues to sponsor this annual project and the amount of participating poets continues to grow. National Poetry Writing Month or NaPoWriMo has spread so successfully through the world poetry community that many now refer to it as Global Poetry Writing Month or GloPoWriMo.

Christine, who has been struggling with writer’s block, is participating in NaPoWriMo/GloPoWriMo 2018 to try to get herself back in the habit of writing daily and challenges you to join her. To support all the members of the Go Dog Go Cafe community who are participating, we will be hosting several special features in April to inspire you.

  1. On Wednesdays, Christine (and other interested Baristas) will be sharing some of their favorite poems by well-known writers to help celebrate poetry in all its forms and diversity.
  2. On Fridays, all Go Dog Go Cafe community members participating in NaPoWriMo/GloPoWriMo 2018 are welcome to share a link to their best NaPoWriMo/GloPoWriMo 2018 piece for the week and are encouraged to follow posted links and support other members of the GDG community.
  3. We welcome your guest submissions of your favorite poem by a well-known writer with a brief paragraph of why and/how it speaks to you using our email address: godoggocafe@gmail.com
  4. We welcome your guest submissions to our email address:  godoggocafe@gmail.com of your best NaPoWriMo/GloPoWriMo 2018 pieces. Be sure to include a link to your blog and how you would like your name to appear if your piece is selected for publication. If you used a writing prompt, please include the prompt details- you might just inspire someone else to write!

We know that some of you don’t see yourself as poets. We think all of us have an inner poet and that April is a great month to step out of your comfort zone, try something new and have some fun!
