Hello writers and fellow creatives! Here at the Go Dog Go Cafe, we have some exciting news! From now until October 25th, we will be accepting guest submissions for the Cafe! We are looking to drum up some excitement for the Halloween season and want to give other writers a chance to showcase their work to our community!
Guidelines:
- Write or create an original piece that is inspired by the season of Halloween. The prompt can be used as the piece title; you can use the word “halloween” or be inspired by other aspects of the season.
- We will accept poetry, prose, flash fiction, essay, creative nonfiction or art.
- Pieces of writing should be 1,500 words or less.
- Your submission must be posted in the comments. Either as a link to a post or the full piece in the comments.
- Submissions will be reviewed by the Bartistas. We will not accept pieces with gratuitous violence, excessive gore, or racist/anti-Semitic/homophobic/xenophobic/transphobic language.
- Submissions end October 25th.
Check back throughout the month of October to see if your piece has been featured! Photo by Beth Teutschmann on Unsplash

Here’s my contribution!
All The Devils Were There
I used to dress in bakers white
and take a basket of bread
to Halloween parties.
I never found many takers.
Spiced pumpkin,
apple cakes
and candy
were always more popular.
So I had a re-think.
Now I take a basket of babies.
They can’t get enough of them
all of those devils out there,
even those who come as angels
gather round for a bite.
Just one bite will transform them
so they’ll leave as devilish
as the rest.

So happy to see this theme today. I just recounted a real life ‘ghost story’ to usher in October and Halloween. Thank you for the space: https://jefftcann.com/2021/09/30/hello/

Halloween, Age 15
The full moon rose
like the Great Pumpkin
my little brother
went begging as a hobo
I bullied candy
snuck out to meet
some fellow teenage boys
under that same moon
High in the sky lighting
our swath of destruction
through the neighborhood
a late autumn tornado
I still revel in that glorious sight
of toilet papered trees in the moonlight
