Today’s poetry form is called Triolet Poetry. From Brewer,
8-line poem
Eight syllables each line
The rhyme pattern looks like this: ABaAabAB – A and B are refrains

A Game Show
what if life here is a game show
your soul called…hey soul…come on down!
skipping down the aisle you go
what if life here is a game show
newborn…time for your cameo!
on the stage, you’ll move all around
what if life here is a game show
your soul being called…come on down!

I am on a personal challenge to explore and write in 100+ different poetic forms. To assist me in this journey is Robert Lee Brewer’s The Complete Guide of Poetic Forms where he gives the form and an example. A Game Show is #44 in this collection I’m calling, very simply, 100+ Poetic Forms.

Lake vs. Beach
Lakes are calm and fun to swim in
but there’s no setting like a beach –
crashing waves and seagull’s harsh din.
Lakes are calm and fun to swim in.
Beaches fill my heart to the brim.
Let’s write our names in sand, side by each.
Lakes are calm and fun to swim in
but there’s no setting like a beach.

Oh, I do love a fun beach day! I love the imagery of this line…Let’s write our names in sand, side by each.
I spent a many of years with my children learning letters in the sand ☀️
