Devereaux Frazier and Beth Amanda are currently hosting the Tuesday Writing Prompt Challenge which was started by our star writer Christine Ray. We hope to offer all of you something that will spark your creativity and willingness to participate.
The prompts are designed to be quick challenges that can be written in 10 to 15 minutes, inspire you creatively, are fun, and get everyone interacting. Please post your response to the prompt in the comments below and show your fellow posters some love and support. All members of the Go Dog Go community, including Baristas, are welcome to participate. Feel free to share this post on your own blogs and/or Facebook.
Todays prompt: Use the phrases “red painted lips” and “silken hair” in a piece of poetry or prose
Sirens Call
I wanted to know her.
With her silken hair
hanging past her waist,
yes, I do believe she
was sitting on it
and it was everything
that mine was not.
It hung straight down,
Straight as a dye,
not in the crinkly waves
and corkscrews
that were the bane
of my life.
And where did she find the lippy
to make those red painted lips
as she sat there on a rock
in the middle of nowhere.
They told me that she was a siren
who would lead me into temptation.
I told them that I would take a chance.

With her long silken hair
and her body laid bare
she had a beauty that none could eclipse.
She had eyes of bright green
that you’d just never seen
and a smile with her red-painted lips.
But alas it would seem
it was only a dream
as I sit up in bed all awake
that’s the last time I look
at a romantic book
before sleep, now I know my mistake.
