In the midst of summer my heart stirs for spring,
With its promise of summer to be.
Oh energy of a growing world,
How my inspiration does flow.
Now amidst the dry summer heat,
And battle for survival intensifies.
Cracked earth do I walk upon,
And dust swirls as life faces mounting odds.
I seek not the refuge of what was,
But look for encouragement for what will be.
Renewal and fresh zeal grows as I reflect,
Upon a winter’s breeze and rustling blooms.
Gray white bark budding with leaves,
Covered in white and magenta.
Let me lift limbs to the sky,
And summon my inner magnolia tree.
