I dreamed of a bright
blue horizon
where I screamed
into the wind
and no longer
tethered my
hope to
myself
.
I dreamed of a yellow bloom
swaying freely
where a small buttercup
was my
only companion
no longer
trying to
be stronger
than the sun
.
I dreamed of it all
and remembered
my feet
my shoes
my path
my journey
to a land unknown
inside of my mind
This poem was written after the first two weeks in quarantine. I think you can really feel my desire to run away from everything. I am thankful to have seen this year through and hope to continue to lean into that idea that my strenghth does not have to come from myself. Photo by Ant Rozetsky on Unsplash.

Liyona is an “average joe” kind of writer who likes to think about ordinary things and then write them down. Ever since she can remember, she has been rhyming words and creating lyric poems. During her college years, she took a more serious bent toward writing and started to post on her blog (The Life and Times of a Quirky Character.) Currently, she resides on the East Coast of the United States just north of the country’s capital.
