A delicious roar
rose among
the fair cities
lost to the
sensations
of past and present
keeping the sustaining force
of time and place
present and future
together
as the bluejays gathered
to dive into
their neighbors nest
.
breathing and gasping
at straws
and ideas
to replicate some form of society
that people have lost.
finding it difficult to
remember
your name.
as I turn my face
to the burning
of Sodom and Gomorrah,
salt
fills my eyes.
Liyona is an “average joe” kind of writer who likes to think about ordinary things and then write them down. Ever since she can remember, she has been rhyming words and creating lyric poems. During her college years, she took a more serious bent toward writing and started to post on her blog (The Life and Times of a Quirky Character.) Currently, she resides on the East Coast of the United States just north of the country’s capital.
This is such a good piece. I wish I could come up with flowing images like this that just melt together.

I remember hearing a lion roar in the zoo and there is something profound and primal about it.
