Throwback Friday, Words of Mine, by Ivor Steven, and Illustration by Kerri Costello

‘Words of Mine’, is a poem I originally wrote in August 2017, and I am pleased to announce that the poem will be my Epilogue piece, in my up-coming book “Tullawalla” A Meeting Place, and soon to be released in March. The drawing below, is the introduction illustration for the poem in my ‘book’, and all the artwork in my ‘book’, was done by my very talented niece, Kerri Costello.

Words Of Mine

I’ve given you my hidden soul

Words trickling through cool mountain streams

Words dripping off the frozen ashen trees

Words gliding across the icy lakes

Words of love, drowning in memory rains

I’ve given you my inner self

I’ve given you my outer grief

Words tumbling over the embedded rocks

Words twisting along the windy rivers

Words cascading down the forest waterways

Words sifting through my barren hands

I’ve given you my lonely heart

I’ve given you my secret loves

Words of life living under the vast oceans

Words of time travelling to the stars beyond

Words flowing through happiness and sorrow

Words of mine, destiny’s dreams of tomorrow

The Soundcloud song below, was a melody written for my poem, and sung, by a musician friend from France, Haille Anderson.

Ivor Steven (c) Feb 2021

G’day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I’m an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I’ve been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I’ve been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems. View all posts by ivor20
