Today I am presenting one of my poems from the “Fae Dreams” Anthology, being released by Fae Corps Publishing, on 31st October. The poem is a piece I wrote 2 years ago, and I’m ecstatic to have “Tower to Heaven” published in this fabulous Anthology. Here’s the pre-order link for the “Fae Dreams” Anthology. >

Tower to Heaven
I remember the day
Like it was yesterday
A cold morning in the paddock
I, a shadow in the flock
Standing beside a giant pylon
I looked up to heaven
Straight up the tower
The tower of power
Crosses of galvanized iron
Shimmering under the winter sun
Wind whistling through its huge steel web
Howling sounds Hades walking dead
And demons screaming in my head
My spirit begun climbing the spire
Clambering higher and higher
Up the pyramid of life’s wires
Desperate, I grasp at my ultimate desire
A visionary mission before I die
To embrace a piece of my angels’ sky
Ivor Steven (c) October 2020
G’day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I’m an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I’ve been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I’ve been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems. Howling sounds Hades walking dead. What an imaginative phrase! Keep climbing that tower to your Angel’s sky!

It’s beautiful Ivor. I love the image of ‘galvanised iron crosses’ juxtaposed with ‘Hades walking dead.’ Congratulations on it being published. It is well deserved.
