I sat on the
precipice
my heart gasping.
over the horizon
for villagers
only dared to
gander for a second
in the
temple of the
sky king
vast wide
spaces
clouds that name
the sun
the air so thin
my breath
didn’t reach my chest
Is this where the
phoenix flies to
sing and die?
Is this where Icarus
burned his hands?
my eyes tilt downward
the drop becoming
farther, distant fields
the cliff didn’t giveway
by my confidence did
and I tremble at
the voice of the
sky king.
This poem is directly inspired by the Tuesday Writing Prompt Challenge at found here at Go Dog Go Cafe. The prompt this time was “over the horizon”. I am working through older prompts to help spark my imagination. Tune in tomorrow to see the new challenge for this week! Photo by Zoltan Fekeshazi on Unsplash

During her college years, she took a more serious bent toward writing and started to post on her blog (The Life and Times of a Quirky Character.) Currently, she resides on the East Coast of the United States just north of the country’s capital.
I love how you shares even the source you’re inspired by.
The write up is amazing ❤
