Oh, wow! It is very impactful and you can really hear how personal it is. There is such a contrast when hearing a poem being read aloud and reading it on a screen. With listening, you have to catch the words, the nuances, and construct your own literary meaning from each line to therefore deconstruct it. In contrast, with reading it on a post or page, the reader makes the decision whether or not those lines hit them and what they learned from the piece as well.
Anyway, to sum up my essay (lol): This is a lovely piece and it is very personal to hear it being recited. It grabs at your attention to dissect each line and properly understand the piece. Thank you for sharing it.

Oh my word, this is so raw and eloquently written. So personal and touching. It speaks to me in this new normal of the world, the stresses that build up, and how the simplest of things (that often others do not know can impact us in this way) can break the dams down, lower our defenses, and let us let it all out. Truly.
Beautiful piece.

Happy Monday everyone and thanks for the opportunity xo I’d like to share this offering from last year I often write about skid row and folks who call it home the thoughts are about how the Spirit is in everyone no matter where we might be in circumstance it also speaks to our collective biases we are human after all but this piece has changed its meaning for me since Memorial Day 2020 at the end of the day I personally don’t know anything about anything but I cant shake the feeling that George Floyd can’t rest in peace until we who are still living choose to be peacemakers I too have anger in me and am far from perfection but i do not have the right to hurt others in my rage all my love and strength to the Floyd family my country and God help me be productive toward helping this world https://wordslessspoken781842219.blog/2019/10/24/atheist-riot

This is too accurate. I feel like I joined one of the tribe with my cats as we binge-watch television together.
On a serious note, this is beautifully expressed and so true to our current times; along with the madness that is occurring, we constantly question if we can ever return to a normal? What would that look like? Those questions linger throughout your poem and it reveals a facet to what can never be returned to before: normalcy as we knew it with each other.

So beautifully penned, Ivor. This is a powerful piece that provokes much thought. It packs a punch, especially in the first few lines. I had to read it a few times, it was very captivating and it required me to truly analyze what it’s speaking to me. It is so impactful, especially with the comparisons of humankind and nature.
Excellent piece, yet again. 😉

Thank you dear Lucy your analysis of my poem is very accurate.. I’m using obsidian as a metaphor for the persecuted, and also as a connection to nature, which was in the last stanza.. I’m so pleased you liked my interesting piece. 😊😁♥🌏
