my son visits with his grandma in the time of COVID-19
A Poem Today
a poem written years from now
about a time of social distance
when touching frowned upon
when 6ft above the ground
kept you from 6ft below
a time of fear and uncertainty
not unlike the time of now
the years between that poem and today
call for brave hearts and words
to tell the stories
to share the times
a poem today written for years from now
Tomorrow is April 1 which means NaPoWriMo or National Poetry Writing Month! NaPoWriMo is an annual project in which participating poets attempt to write a poem a day for the month of April.
Why?
The reading of poetry has been around for thousands of years and has the power to transform ordinary language into something beautiful. It makes you stop and think and appreciate. But writing poetry is a key to becoming fully alive…vulnerable and willing to dig deep within the inner workings of your mind. It’s the playground of the human soul. So I invite you to come along with me these thirty days…you don’t have to share a thing. Write your poetry in a notebook if that works for you. Just write. I know you have the time #covid-19

The above was in response to the weekly writing challenge held here at the cafe each Tuesday. This week we were given the words, “brave heart” to write a poem or piece of prose. Check it out!
Hey y’all, thanks for visiting the Go Dog Go Cafe and I hope you enjoyed reading today’s selection. I am Donna Matthews, a born and bred Texan who can usually be found writing, painting, taking pictures, or traveling the world on foot. I’m all about love, people, sharing, and doing life together and would love to get to know you. I host two blogs…the first, The DJ Ranch, documents my personal adventures while the second, Slay The Chaos, focuses on mindsets, technology, productivity and organization. Come on over for a visit sometime 💙
Hopefully our futures turn for the better…..
