Hi Stephen – a bit confusing today as it looks like both yours and Christine’s (Braveandrecklessblog) PYM posts on Go Dog Go Cafe are picking up PYM links in their comments – my link to a poem is on Christine’s.

Yes, I saw that too, it is my fault. Had some crossed brain wires when I wrote mine up…

Hi, Happy Monday. Here is my offering for “Promote Yourself Monday, 3/2/20″ – A nonsense poem / I Saw the Potatoes Hang on the Line
I saw the potatoes hang on the line
I saw the clean washing swim in the sea
I saw the mackerel run up the hill
I saw the young ponies climb the tall tree
I saw the red squirrel melt in the sun
I saw the large iceberg in a glass vase
I saw the red roses dance on the floor
I saw the old couple glow in the sky
I saw the bright rainbow closing her eyes
I saw the small baby eat a gazelle
I saw the wild lion cast a clay pot
I saw the skilled potter boil on the stove
Here is the link https://goffjamesart.wordpress.com/2020/02/23/poetry-i-saw-the-potatoes-hang-on-the-line-a-poem-by-goff-james/.
Have a great day.

Hi, Stephen. Many thanks for your kind comment. Certainly nonsensical and a lot of fun to write. After a couple of readings one can decipher the hidden sense and structure. Happy Monday.

The poem reads like a tease… like it is just playing, but with a couple of visits there are layers. Looking forward to unpacking. Layered poetry is a love of mine!

A fine piece to contemplate. I wonder if the answer to this remains lost if we never learn to love ourselves?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Maybe it does because we are too critical of self to love ourselves as we are.

I did not read it until my 30’s until I was in bedrest with pre-term labor but I am now an ardent fan. In truth, the chapters I finished of Heart of the Storm in the early 90’s read like LOTR meets Pride and Prejudice! Perhaps I should have added a more transparent disclosure.

Christine, I really enjoyed this poem, such heartfelt compassion and heartache

Thanks so much Stephen. Interestingly the inspiration for this poem came the other day. I have just met with a friend who is the Exec Director of a new charity locally addressing the PTSD first responders and victims of abuse experience. I am going to volunteer my time with reading and writing poetry for healing.

Hello! Here is a story poem. My paternal grandparents’ house in Escanaba, Michigan, was on the shore of Lake Michigan for many years until the lake receded. FREE VERSE REVOLUTION published the poem this past week, and my gratitude for that!
