Throwback Friday – prikcab (Ian Perlman)

a heart opens

to let you in

to let me out

time is a salve

that heals our old wounds

scars will remain

the map is today

don’t get lost in me

find yourself in all our moments

our destination uncertain

as your hand rests in mine

I will share the lead

I originally wrote these words 4 years ago today. I made a few (not many). edits. I always enjoy looking back at pieces (mine and others) and see the consistencies and the change that comes with time.

  1. I agree with you Ian. Rereading old poems gives us a chance to hear our voice as it was before and feel the consistency and at the same time see how we have grown. Lovely piece, thank you for sharing this with us today.
