Throwback Friday. Annoying Mind Games (Again), by Ivor Steven.

Hi dear readers , below is a poem from two years ago, one that I really didn’t want to post again, but sadly, here the story is, on repeat again…………

Here I am in bed now, with a sharp raging headache(again). I’m not well, my occipital neuralgia has flared up (again) . All I can do is rest, so I’ll be lying low for a few days (or more). I’m beginning my treatment on Tuesday, physiotherapy and acupuncture, which in the end gives me some manageable relief. The whole process can take up to 4 weeks,…. Yeah… I should be ok for Christmas……. Hope you all have a good weekend

Mind Games (Again)

There’s a sharp pain

Inside my brain

Harpooning my eye

More than Ouch, I cry

So hard to write

Blurry is my sight

All I do is peep

And I must rest and sleep

I’ve not lost the knack

And I shall be back……….

Hopefully soon

Before they play my tune

Occipital neuralgia is a distinct type of headache characterised by piercing, throbbing, or electric-shock-like chronic pain in the upper neck, back of the head, and behind the ears, usually on one side of the head. Typically, the pain of occipital neuralgia begins in the neck and then spreads upwards.

G’day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I’m an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I’ve been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I’ve been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    • Good morning Gael, I’m up now, and I’ve had good sleep
Through my window the sun is shining and that makes me smile
I see the “courtyard of dreams” glowing and growing outside.
Except for the headache, I’m ok, although battling with the headache is tiring, like battling and pushing into a strong wind all day.
I’ll probably rest out in my courtyard most of the day, do some writing watching my little world soothing my soul
It’s thoroughly relaxing place for me
I’ve a lot of lvor quotes and comments, stored in my phone notebook
I’ll do a post about them, haha I won’t have to do any thinking.
It’s hard for me to stop the wheels from turning, but I’ve got my sound system from my computer hooked up to my courtyard speakers, oh what bliss
I’ve collected a playlist of Leonard Cohen’s new songs, there’s 9 of them so far that I’ve found, I’ll attach playlist here for you ((hugs)) https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL676Af4EFlsoIjpDZJHZ4BK05ezPnlL0U
I’ve never tried to send one of my playlists on the phone, please let me know if it works for you xxxx💙💙🌏💙💙🌏

      • Hi Gael, I’m super pleased the link/music worked for you. That makes me smile 😊🎶
It’s 3.00 am here, my headache has woken me up. When I’m up and about in the morning, I’ll send you a link / copy of my PDF file to the lyrics of the 9 songs 💙🌏
