I enjoyed the poem but do have a question – why did you decide to break from the established format in the last stanza? Thanks!
LikeLiked by 1 person
Thank you so very much for viewing and taking the time to comment!! Oh my! You are asking a hard question of this Little Ol’ Poet! Not sure I remember exactly but probably one or a part of all the following:
I did it for effect,
I’m a bit of a rebel,
I’m not well read on format and not welded to format,
I used it like a pause in conversation,
that’s what the voices in my head told me to do,
My Muse liked it like that,
I haven’t a clue?

Thanks. It’s called a mirror cinquain 😊
LikeLiked by 1 person
ahhh…mind if i give it a try?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Of course not 😊. I learned the form a long time ago and got hooked on it. It seemed to suit me. You can also do just a cinquain, which is composed of two syllables in first line, four in second line, six in third line, eight in fourth line, and two in last line. The mirror cinquain is so calked because it perfectly reflects the cinquain. They are fun to do. I look forward to reading yours 😊

i like cinquains as well, i have a few on my blog. i just never knew there was a mirror form of it, but i’ll certainly try it. it looks fun

as a poet i like to think that i can paint a pretty potent picture
in the minds of my readers,
until i read a post like this filled such beautifully evocative imagery.
I’m not one for favorites but this certainly falls into my category of best reads this month.
Thank you so much for sharing this with us, and looking forward to next week Monday where you’ll hopefully share another one as great as this

Hi Everyone,
This one isn’t the most cheery topic and is sadly titled Depression: https://peskypoetry.co.uk/2019/09/20/depression/
The interesting point behind this one is that it was written after I found my way out of the dark spiral… The topic was too taboo when I wrote this poem many years ago which made me want to write it more. And although not a happy topic I hope you like the poem.
The reason for an old poem is I have been focusing on my social media presence lately and building followers on my Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram pages. If you like my work you can search for and follow any of them.
Love,
The Pesky Poet
PS… I’m setting some extra time aside after lunch today to go through all the other poems here, I look forward to reading them 🙂 .
