Devereaux Frazier and Beth Amanda are currently hosting the Tuesday Writing Prompt Challenge which was started by our star writer Christine Ray. We hope to offer all of you something that will spark your creativity and willingness to participate.
The prompts are designed to be quick challenges that can be written in 10 to 15minutes, inspire you creatively, are fun, and get everyone interacting. Please post your response to the prompt in the comments below and show your fellow posters some love and support. All members of the Go Dog Go community, including Baristas, are welcome to participate. Feel free to share this post on your own blogs and/or Facebook.
Today’s prompt: Finish the phrase “My mother told me…”
Happy Writing!
My mother told me
that dreams are not made of the strong resolutions
and hard-hitting goals
but is nurtured by the soft hands with the filigree touch
which keep them warm in the cold winter nights
and gives them sustenance in the scorching summer days
My mother told me
that getting hardened by the atrocities of life
will not take you nearer to the goal
but smoothening and softening our rough edges
a kind smile
and a gentle look will glide you towards your goal.
My mother told me
that there are enough who can reach the destination
and can have loft goals and desires in life
but the one who does it with humility and with kindness
is the one
you should really adore.

My Mother Said
She said a million things
A few still resonate with me
Visions of love, compassion and grace
Reflecting through the smile on her face
She didn’t have to love me
She didn’t have to raise me
She didn’t have to pick me
But she did
Adoption is everything to me
It is how I am still able to chase my dreams
A woman of such incredible beauty
Her kindness shines through the memories
While she is gone, she is still here
Dementia has stolen her memory
But occasionally she comes back to me
The last time she did
My mother told me how much she has missed me, how proud she is of me and how much she loves
Those are the moments I cherish
For one day soon
It will be all that I will have to hold on to.
xoxo

my mother told me you can’t hurry love. she was impressionable and had heard the song. she said i’d just have to wait. love don’t come easy. it’s a game of give and take. then she’d walk away humming the tune.
only thing is, this is a small town. people talk. you can’t hurry love but you can’t slow down a baby from showing. mama has always wanted me to wear her wedding dress when the time comes. if she don’t want a bump stretching the fabric, the time has come.

Well it’s not Tuesday but reading all these beautiful entries made my morning and prompted me to think about the challenge myself. I will share only a few lines because I know I am past the deadline 😬
My mother told me to keep up the curiosity
Learning stops when you are dead
So be alive and well 💜

Here is my little poem……
I Do Thee Shine
When I was little and young.
“Your heart will always shine” Said Mum.
When I grew up, a know-all teenager.
Head strong, and an all-night rager.
“Your love of life will shine through” Said Dad.
Later on, I married, so happy and glad.
Suddenly, one spring, MS touched her bad.
The shining dulled and time turned sad.
Dad said, “Your heart shone through”.
And Mum said, “Her Star will always shine on you”.
My Star, my Dad and Mum, you are my spine.
For you, I do thee shine.

Wash your hands and your knees
Dry your hair
listen to me
.
I love you
I love you
I love you
.
Finish your meal
Say please
Hold my hand, don’t squeal
.
I love you
I love you
I love you

Where The Lost Children Go
My mother told me that
my sister has gone to Never Never Land.
It’s where the lost children go,
those who don’t find their way home
and those who fade away and die
like the wild flowers I pick for the house.
My mother told me that
they stay children for ever
and can play all day long.
It sounds like fun there
but my mother says
she will never let me go.
She told me the children there will grow wings
and become angels.
I think that when my sister gets her wings
she will fly back home.
My mother says no.
