I believe you are right, Gina. Writers (whether poets or otherwise) also have a duty to be honest, and this duty includes writing about sensative and difficult topics.

This week, I fumbled around with trying to find some way of describing how absolutely nonsensical I find contemporary American politics. The resulting poem, “Gerp!”, should be viewed as “experimental”. Not to everyone’s taste, I suppose.

At times, old pain is more cutting than new. I think because we have lived with it for so long.
