I’m so elated to share the details of the Annual Meeting and Awards luncheon Program which happened on 17 June at the Pines Manor, New Jersey. The day was to celebrate the efforts of the affiliates and the program coordinators all through New Jersey. They also celebrated the top 3 winners of the state level Dara Axelrod Expressive Arts Poetry contest coordinated by Jacques Armstrong. Also, the top 3 poetry winners were asked to read their winning entries. It was such a warm feeling to see the dedicated group of people awarded for their efforts for spreading and helping the families affected with mental illness. I’m so thankful to the NAMI MJ Executive Director Meredith Blount for giving me the opportunity.
NAMI New Jersey (NAMI NJ), established in 1985, is a statewide non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by mental illness. Through education, support, advocacy and public awareness programs NAMI NJ fosters an understanding about mental illness, confronts stigma often associated with mental disorders, advocates for public policies that benefit those affected by mental illness, and promotes research into the causes, treatment, and recovery of mental health disorders.
I’m sharing a few pictures of the event and prize ceremony.
Thanks for sharing my happiness and my writing journey. I owe it to the readers who continually support me.
Thanks a million.
Happy blogging!

Thanks for this article! It’s nice to find more people with the same advocacy on mental health through starting a conversation. I delivered a speech to college students last Saturday. It’s titled ‘The situation is a lot more nuanced than that: A meditation on mental health through Crazy ex-girlfriend.’ I decided to post a four-part lecture on it on my WordPress page. I just published the third part titled “I’m a good person” here: https://kloydecaday.wordpress.com/2019/09/06/im-a-good-person/.
Here is the second part: https://kloydecaday.wordpress.com/2019/08/27/debunking-mental-health-stigma/
Meanwhile, here’s the first part: https://kloydecaday.wordpress.com/2019/08/24/the-situation-is-a-lot-more-nuanced-than-that/
Thank you for reading my posts and I hope that you give me thoughts on my speech. Follow me too. Be well!
