Leaving Me-Devereaux Frazier

She left me

She left me black

She left me broken and barren

Which road? What night? When?

She left me thinking it was me

She left me thinking it was her

Was it either one of us? Just time?

Are we mere space dust? Plastic molds?

In which fear and lust take sanctuary

The flesh that hugs my bones is tingled

The blood that touches my third eye is crying

Souls shattered at the core, the belief

We would last forever is now gone

Now I cannot say what has become of her

She may have already passed over

And I am still here

She may have found a new body to inhabit

And am I there

Where there is no sex, no gender, no time

No pain, no breakups, and no bitterness

This isn’t a death knell to my knees

But hoarse pangs in my heart

Bringing my breaths to slow, heavy puffs

Sucking them down with all my misfortune

I refuse to let the emotion take over me

I refused to let the emotion take over me

But that’s why I became enamored with you

To begin with
