  1. Questions for the Seasons

will the beautiful colors of autumn
    protect against the oncoming frost
    the moon in the sky
    is yours and mine
    wherever we are
    anchored by the stars
    hung high over time

will the depth of winters chill
thaw in time to greet the crocus
deep black skies before the dawn
    keep us hidden
    as the nature resets
    patience guides us
    towards tomorrow

will the hopeful aroma of spring
dance endlessly, laughing with the solstice
    singing blackbirds
    carry dreams in their tune
    another chance for love
    bringing freedom from the past
    breathing in from open windows

    will summer’s warm embrace
catch us early and hold us late
    gentle red and amber evenings
    umbrella our hopes
    of a tomorrow like today
    lay with me
    your hand in mine

  2. I can relate so well! I’ve sought out the back rows for most of my life as well. Congrats to you on taking steps to put yourself and your talents back in the spotlight. Shine on!

    • I soak and scrub, and
      paint my cabinets yellow
hoping the optimism will sink in

I love this! I can relate, having self-isolated for so long, trying to re-make my home into a secret sanctuary and attempting to hide from all the ugliness outside and in my head. But you can only hide from so much, for so long.
You are a most gifted, thought-provoking writer, and I truly admire and enjoy your work.

      • Thank you. Illness forced me into isolation, and I am now submerging…which is a process. I appreciate the support for my writing – always a lifeline. I have looked for a way to follow you, but cannot see how.

      • I’m sorry to hear that, but happy to hear you’re finding your way out. Your writing is stunning; whatever you have endured is probably what makes it shine so brightly. I find that is usually the case with people, too.
I’m sorry you can’t find a way to follow me… I’m not sure what the problem could be with that. 🙁

  3. Hi there! I am not the owner of Go Dog Go Cafe and I am presenting the question to one of the other members. From past experience, the members of GDGC determine the authors.

Thank you for your interest! 🙂
