THE COMFORT OF QUIET

Woman resting with cup of hot drink and book near fireplace
By Charles Robert Lindholm

There Is An Inner Joy
And A Keen Realization
That Comes From Gazing
At A Midnight Sky
Filled With Countless Stars

Pinpoints Of Light
In The Darkness
Of The Night
Made Visible
By The Absence
Of The Sun

An Awesome Display
By The Universe
That Causes
A Wondering
In Your Soul

There Is A Comfort
In Quiet
That Calms You
In The Absence Of Noise

It’s The Gentle Comfort
Of Quietness
That Lets You
Connect With Yourself
Your Thoughts
And Your Soul

Spend Some Time
In Solitude
Alone With Yourself

Close Your Eyes
And Listen To The
Sound Of The Still
Small Voice Of Your Soul

There Is A Comfort
In Quiet That Comes
From Listening
To The Wind
To The Babbling Brook
To The Waves On The Shore
To Songbirds At Sunrise
To You Breathing

Quiet Is Not Utter Silence
But The Removal Of Noise,
That Lets You Hear
The Heartbeat Of Nature
And The Whispers
Of Your Soul

The Comfort Of Quiet
Wraps Itself Around You
When You Sit Alone
Late At Night And Stare
At The Flames Of A Dying
Fire  In The Fireplace
With A Warm Blanket
And Gently And Peacefully
Fall Asleep
And Dream

The Comfort Of Quiet
Is A Gift You Should
Give Yourself Each Day

In The Morning With Coffee
Or Late At Night
In A Low Light
As You Wait
For That Peaceful
Easy Feeling
To Wash Over You
And Bring You
Joy

I love these lines. You so beautifully described how quiet can nurture your soul and is an underrated gift we should all give ourselves more often. I have more quiet now than ever in my life, and this social butterfly is learning to appreciate it. Gorgeous write my poet friend.
