I built stone walls around my heart to avoid getting hurt.
Little did I know that it would stop me from feeling too.
How ironic, that sometimes numbness hurts more than pain.

  1. Poignant — I agree with Megha, truly it is the irony of pain. I couldn’t help but hear Pink Floyd’s ‘Comfortably Numb’ in my mind, ‘There is no pain, you are receding. A distant shipsmoke on the horizon. You are only coming through in waves; your lips move, but I can’t hear what you’re saying….’ Excellent 🖤
