Devereaux Frazier and Beth Amanda are currently hosting the Tuesday Writing Prompt Challenge which was started by our star writer Christine Ray. We hope to offer all of you something that will spark your creativity and willingness to participate.
The prompts are designed to be quick challenges that can be written in 10 to 15minutes, inspire you creatively, are fun, and get everyone interacting. Please post your response to the prompt in the comments below and show your fellow posters some love and support. All members of the Go Dog Go community, including Baristas, are welcome to participate. Feel free to share this post on your own blogs and/or Facebook.
Today’s prompt is inspired by the tragic events that took place on this day, 17 years ago: Write about a time that you were challenged by an outside force, and talk about what you did to overcome it? More importantly, how did it change your view of yourself and/or the world around you?
We are always looking for cool, quick writing prompts. If you have a great idea for a future Tuesday prompt challenge, send it to Beth Amanda at midwestfantasy333@gmail.com
I’ve been challenged by outside forces several times. In fact, one time is more than enough. This quote by Maya Angelou reflect my feelings –
“You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.”
― Maya Angelou

“Everyone has inside of him a piece of good news. The good news is that you don’t know how great you can be! How much you can love! What you can accomplish! And what your potential is!” – Anne Frank
Outside influence belittle us till we lose self confidence, Anne Frank’s words always lift my spirits, in any adversity we can find hope and light, it’s right there in us.

The phone woke me at 4am on that Day
The duty officer told me about the airplanes
Called me to our ship to help, he needed me.
We all woke: 1 year old, wife, me and the TV
I watched the first tower fall then closed the door
Getting in my car to drive into the changed world
My ship, my shipmates, my Captain needing me.

Can’t imagine what you were feeling, but duty called. And you were there. We all appreciate your service.

OMG! I think my heart just hit the floor. I can’t begin to imagine what went through your mind when you received that call. I want to thank you, personally. It is the unthinkable what you saw first hand… What we watched on TV was like watching a movie. I am covered in goosebumps thinking about the scene of ground zero😢 Thank you for your service!

Wonderful topic…sometimes I have a hard time and feel very internally conflicted on September 11th because it’s my birthday where I want to celebrate my happiness and gratitude for the gift of my life and the people in, but feel sadness for the loss of so many as a result of 9/11/2001.

I imagine that is quite conflicting for you. Maybe you can think of celebrating those first responders and all who helped put our country back together.

Of course I do for sure. It was a tragic event in our country and my heart, thoughts, and prayers go out to their families. And I’m forever grateful for the rescuers that dedicated their lives and time to helping and their families.
