Everything You Wanted to Know About Self-Publishing and Micropublishers, But Were Afraid to Ask-Christine Ray

As many of you know, my first book of poetry, Composition of a Woman, was published in July by Sudden Denouement Publishing.  I posted a few pieces on Go Dog Go Cafe about my road to publishing in hopes of making it a little less scary to those of you who are considering publishing your writing.  As I am about to start final edits on my second book of poetry, The Myths of Girlhood, it felt like the right time to offer you the opportunity to ask me any questions you might have about self-publishing or working with a micro or small press.  Jump right in the comment section below or email me your questions at godoggocafe@gmail.com.  I will write a post addressing readers’ questions.  Remember: there are no stupid questions.  If you have a question about self-publishing or publishing with a micropress, I probably had it once upon a time as well.

  1. My question is how do publishers want work submitted? Is there a preferred program? I have a Mac and usually use Google Docs. But can I submit through that or do I need to get Microsoft Word or some other program?
