Prayer-Megha Sood

“so I wait for you like a lonely house
till you will see me again and live in me.
Till then my windows ache.”

― Pablo Neruda, 100 Love Sonnets

I watch you

for countless morning

striding past my  frosty

window

as your shadow

passes through my room swiftly

like a summer’s cold breeze,

with your footsteps

syncopating with my

raspy breath and putting

my lonely heart at ease

As you rush

towards the town’s church

and I lay

suspended

on my balcony

stuck in the limbo

of my dreams and reality

I wish to my heart’s content

that may be

just maybe,

I am the name

on your honey laced lips

when you kneel down

next time in the pew

asking the almighty

for a true love.
