PRODIGAL LOVER

MAN SITTING ON PIER AT SUNSET
By Charles Robert Lindholm

She Sailed
Into The Sunset
Never Looking Back
Or Waving

Without A Care
Or Second Thought
She Left Me
For Anywhere But Here

I Suppose
She’s Happy
Wherever It Is
She’s Ended Up

But I Still
Walk The Beach
Each Day
At Sunset
LIFEGUARD CHAIR AT SUNSET - EMPTY
I Climb Up
Into The
Lifeguard’s Seat
For A Better View
Of The Horizon

As My Heart
Still Hopes
For The Return
Of My Prodigal Lover

My Head
Knows The Truth
And Keeps
Whispering
To My Heart
And My Soul

Find Another Girl!
MAN ON SHORE LOOKING TO THE HORIZON AT SUNSET
And Someday . . .
I May
But Not Today

    • Yes, the heart has a hard time letting go sometimes to be sure! Oooh, I’m sorry about making you tear up, but then for a poet that’s a badge of honor, isn’t? To know that you have reached someone’s heart. I know your words reach me too! So happy you enjoyed it!! Thanks so much for your sweet comment! Nice to have you plugged back into WP! Ha!
