Shattered

Featured Image -- 1441
They stare
But hardly stutter in utterance
Of how they really feel
For them
The pageantry of gawking
Suits their frail minds just fine
Litter of my streets, secondhand smoke of my eyes
They are hardly worth my words or time
They hardly amount to a fractional fraction
Of my confidence
To write until there no words to say
Then create my own language
And write them too
They hardly move the needle in my heart
To become the monster they see already
I am an angel of light
Just not yours
Come to save those listening
And not simply understanding
Somewhere in all my armor
However
The bacteria creeps in
It infects my honest intentions
Forges artificial renditions
Of the person I was not
And the one I haven’t fully become

  1. “I am an angel of light, just not yours.” Nice.
Do you mind if I bestow that pearl of wisdom on someone, sometime? I won’t be mean and will of course give credit to its source.
    Good post, thanks.
