By Charles Robert Lindholm
He had it all,
the world was his
and his alone,
that was the problem
He had a yearning
to be part of a pairing
instead of a solo
and his wish was granted
He lost a rib
but didn’t mind at all
because
He gained
a soulmate
forever
His love for Her
was unconditional
He would do anything
for Her,
anything
And then one day
He knew
that She would
die
He knew
the truth
He knew
the reason
He knew
the price
He’d have to pay
and chose
to pay it
anyway
He could not
dream
of a day without her
He made a choice
to be Her soulmate
for their forever
until death
parted them
He could not
live without Her
and He made
the choice
not to

Melancholy, haunting, Chuck. Above all it is true feeling for loss which comes across in your so honest poem.
