The Wolf Moon
in the night sky

an inner
in my soul

Many moons
have come and gone
since you left me
and I moved on

but late at night
in the full moon’s light
old memories haunt me
as I lose the fight
and remember you

and my heart cries out
in a mournful howl

  1. Chuck, this poem speaks to me as my wolf moon is only just now beginning to rise in my night time. Soon, I will howl again, I know and my soul will cry out its mourning and sing with a new light of joy.

    Thank you for sharing.

    • Thank you Gina! I so appreciate your comments! You are so right! They both have powerful mystics and followers and a literary lore also! So wise to point that out!! Now that you remind me I think I have a couple of older pieces I need to go find and dust off! Thanks for that too!

      • You are very welcome then! I love books on wolves, at one point I imagined I was one in a different life. I read a wonderful book called “Never Cry Wolf” by Farley Mowat and see the wolf as such an intelligent and also feeling animal. I hope to read those poems of yours soon Charles. I saw your email this morning , will get to replying it later today, it was a brilliant poem on the wolf. the moon will play havoc with us this January, I am anticipating the Blue Moon on the last day of this month. hope the new year has been good to you so far. Blessings, Gina
