THE SEA WHISPERS TO ME

By Charles Robert Lindholm

I hear her
from the cliffs
whispering
on the wind
as the waves
wash ashore
crashing against
the rocks below

She tempts
my heart
and soul
with her
beauty
and stillness
and raw power

She teases me
with promises
of adventure
and freedom
when I gaze
at her endless
horizon

I know
she hides
darkness and death
in her depths
and I treat her
with caution
and respect
for I have
seen her
raging

But I know
the joy
that she brings
me
when she
tickles my ear
with the help
of a gentle breeze
and the warm
summer sun
on my skin
and her reflections
of blue in my eyes

I long to be
with her
beneath
a blanket
of stars
in the midnight sky
as she wraps her arms
around me
in an embrace
as she rocks me
slowly to sleep

I,
am in love
with the sea
and she
will always
be
in my heart
and in my soul

Whispering
to me
in my days
and in my nights
and in my dreams

And I,
will always have
a yearning
to be
with the sea
that I know
and love

I hear
her voice
whispering
to my soul
as my soul
confesses it’s
love for the sea

    • I’m so glad you liked this! There is just something about the sea, isn’t there?? Maybe I can nudge you into writing and sharing something that the sea means to you and how it makes you feel??? Pick a line from my work or a quote or other work on the sea and see if you can capture what it is about the sea that makes you love it??? Think of the sea as a lover and write!
