Red Cloud

Red water swirl vortex

Red Cloud

-Linda Lee Lyberg

The red cloud of anger hovers
And all you see is me
I cower beneath your stare
And beg to be let free.

Your fingers grip me tighter
Imprinting on my arm
Leaving me no shelter
To flee from impending harm.

You go on and on and on
With your fiery inquisition
As I struggle to search for words
In order to ease your disposition.

At last, the red cloud eases
As your fingers loosen their hold
Relief floods in, overwhelms me
Your anger has gone cold.

Your eyes once again clear
As your touch becomes tender
I cringe as well in this moment
For you expect me to surrender.
