TAUNTING MEMORIES

By Cara Reeva and Charles Robert Lindholm

how can my soul be so bonded to you
like the lyrics to the music my mind keeps playing
and my heart hold such love for you
inspiring every word I’m saying

deep inside
slowly rising to the surface
 and yet
even after all the things we’ve been through
we cannot be together?

The reality of sharing life
like people stuck in a recurring dream
seems to escape us
and we can never seem to grasp it
like the disappearing shadows on the ground
shaped like our worst nightmare
teasing us with hope

taunting us with memories
and a future
like the past
that never turns into now
but remains forever fantasy

A fairy-tale with no happily ever after
